Mucogingival Issues with Dr. Robert Bouclin 
As North Americans are living longer and aging more gracefully, cosmetic surgery has become more popular than ever.  Similarly, the trend towards cosmetic-related surgery to create “a smile to last a lifetime” has led to a substantial increase in patients electing to have Periodontal Plastic Surgery.  At the end of this presentation, you will understand the following concepts of Periodontal Plastic Surgery:

  • What are the contributing factors?  
  • What can patients expect after periodontal plastic surgery?

 Prevention and Mangement of Neck, Shoulder, and Back Pain from Work Related Injuries with Trudy Bedard and Jacequeline Steers (Head-Neck-Jaw Physiotherapy)

Understand the following concepts related to neck, should and back issues:

  • Identify the risk factors for musculoskeletal injuries
  • Identify work environment related risk factors
  • Suggestions for reducing the risks
  • Understanding ergonomics or your work environment and the way your body functions during daily tasks.

 

The Mysterious World of Loupes-Are you seeing what I am seeing? Understand how loupes can enhance comfort and create longevity in your dental hygiene career while increasing efficiency and effectiveness.  Maintaining proper ergonomics is  easier with loupes and can minimize body strains.  This course will help you identify the features and benefits that will lead you to the type of loupes that are correct for you.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Dr. Robert Bouclin was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario.  He holds a Bachelor degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa and he completed his dentistry training at l’Université Laval in Quebec City.  During his studies he took a keen interest in surgery and microbiology.

 

After practicing general dentistry for two years, Dr. Bouclin decided to specialize in periodontics and returned to l’Université Laval for an additional 3 years to complete his specialty training. He obtained a Masters degree and his professional designation as a Periodontist in 2003 from l’Université Laval.

 

Dr. Bouclin lives with his family in Ottawa and enjoys hockey, snowboarding, and sailing.

 

Dr. Haissam Dahan completed his Bachelors of Science degree from CarletonUniversity and Doctor of Dental Surgery from McGillUniversity in 2005.  He practiced general dentistry in Ottawa for five years while also completing a Masters in Dental Science degree during that time.

 

His interest in facial pain management and sleep dentistry lead him to leave his dental practice and complete a clinical fellowship in orofacial pain at the world-renowned Massachusetts GeneralHospital located in Boston.  While there, he was a part-time clinical instructor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  Following graduation, he moved back to Ottawa to start his private practice and has been awarded a hospital position at the Montreal GeneralHospital, where he is the only dentist that is allowed to treat facial pain.

 

Scott Gibson is a loupe specialist from Oroscoptic. He graduated with a professiona studies degree from University fo Windsor and has been certified by orascoptic to take customized measurements for loupe systems.  As a loupe consultant he provides valuale knowledge on the important areas that a dental professional needs to focus on when purchasing a loupe system.  The single biggest challenge facing loupe technology is an overwhelming acces of loupe information without propter guidance.  As  each of us have unique preferences and needs, it takes a specialist to properly advise you on the areas that you need to be aware of before buying your loupe system.
